Going to vent a little here and get a few things out of my system.

Answers to Common Comments about Blogging

Most bloggers are just want-to-be amatuer editorialists, who want to influence the public. While I agree there are several blogs like this, most bloggers only occasionally embark on social commentary and usually it's just to get it off ( Read more... )

Indeed.

This is why I don't like being on an 'open' blog.
I actually had someone tell me that I needed to post about something more interesting when I was talking about my cat on blogger at one point. I couldn't even tell them to stuff it because there are no 'emailed responses' on blogger.

That's why I'm more active on LJ. If I respond to someone, at least I know there's a chance they'll read it.

Wow, that's weird.

I just tell people like that "My blog is inherently self-indulgent. If you don't like what's on it, then go click the big red 'X' on your browser, I won't miss you."

I mainly tend to get the "Whaa! I have found something you said offensive and decided that suddenly gives me the right to control what you can and can't say" brigade. Needless to say, they get the full FOAD treatment with both barrels.

Amazing how freedom of speech only works one way with so many people.

People need to grow up and stop treating others like objects.

I write my blog for myself and I share stuff of interest that I think others would find interesting.

I'm not here to entertain or enlighten anyone else but myself.

Exactly. I think that's true for most of us. And I think it's about time the general browsing public got that into their brains.

Agreed, but that's not likely to happen (I work with the public, there are times that I have very little faith in my fellow man/woman ^_^)

I know.

I have very little faith in journalists too. After all, how can we really trust the investigations of people who won't even bother to find out what most bloggers are like?

Originally, I joined livejournal for the Apprentice Blog. This blog also helps me keep track of friends whom I've had for some time. I find that this journaling is less taxing on my hands than paper. . .hence my Temple stuff which I will need in another 4-8 months when I will have to give my talk on those experiences/lessons gleamed. . .

I got chanur1 in this to meet other Cross-stitchers. . .

OBTW. . .Dewey Decimal is nice, but I'm more of a LC lady.

*duck*

I like the volunteering comment. I do think that more people need to get out and do some good like that.

The journey to knowledge has many roads.

(If I keep this up, I'm going to end up with my own line of fortune cookies.)

I'm convinced that once I hit black belt I'll become the neighborhood Yoda. . .

Or Obi-Wan at least . . .
