It has been really a long, long time since I posted here. Nothing exciting going on. I work way too much. I am getting a bit mad about it too. Is this the American way or I am just slow...

It's been since June that I posted in this journal - guess I was a little busy or just lazy. Actually nothing especially exciting has happened. Spring is almost here which means gardening and I want to get back into sewing. There is something about making things with your own two hands instead of just buying the darn stuff. Twas hot today.
I went to a materials lab opening and had lunch in a tent in front of the building. Won 4 rounds of golf in the sun. My office is stifling. Tara's cute apartment is un-air conditioned. This wine is warming me up. The Gulf of Mexico is boiling. We are a big fracking greenhouse - better work on the space program.

I went to Dallas this weekend to visit my Mom and Step-Dad and Sister. Scott had just bought a 42" plasma TV - great for watching sci-fi on. We went shopping at a new different style mall in Garland, TX. We saw the house that Karin, my sister, just bought today - also in Garland. Got back from Austin this weekend and came down with some crappy flu. I managed to work through most of Monday but the chills took over and I went home sick. So yesterday I lay around and watched Woody Allen's Everyone Says I Love You and Crash (which was excellent). Then I watched all of HBO's latest Elizabeth I movie. This city is such an armpit - especially after spending yesterday evening and this morning in the Amish Country an hour east of here. We toured the Burton plant - very cool. Most of the guys working there were Amish. For some reason I think those Amish beards are sort of hot. They were all wearing the dark clothes and the straw hats - turned black ( Read more... )

I woke up very early this morning. Seth was crashing around in the kitchen at 3:30 a.m. I couldn't get back to sleep so I listened to TWIT on my iPod for hours until it was time to drink coffee. Then off to the airport and two hours on an Embrauer puddle jumper and two hours on the road in the Smokey Mountains. It is warm and beautiful here ( Read more... )
