Some of you may be familiar with this picture that floats around the internet every year at Halloween, of a pumpkin that has been carved to look like it's barfing -- with the pumpkin "guts" (seeds and the orange goop) pulled out through the mouth. Here's an example in case you have no idea what I'm talking about

IME early elementary teachers give very few top marks (be they Ms or As or Es) in the first report card. Partly this is because the "standard" they are talking about is the standard for the end of the year, so most kids won't meet it at the beginning. But partly it seems to be a decision they make regardless of the kid's performance, so they can have the kids show progress by the end. And that may be just a stupid practice, but if that's what she's doing it's not anything about Isaac, yk? So maybe before you water board her :-) ask her about her grading philosophy.
