Last night my on-paper bench press hit 300 pounds for the first time. I actually benched 225 for 10 reps, but on paper that means I should be able to bench press 300 pounds for one rep. To me, a 300 pound bench press has always seemed like the beginning of what I would call strong, and was also something I never thought would be possible for me ( Read more... )

Well, I'm now officially 300 pounds. By officially I mean that the statistical trend line for my daily measurements has hit 300, as opposed to some random measurement being 300. I'm not complaining. I like big round numbers. And most of the gains, at least in the past couple years, have been muscle. I also set a personal record on the bench ( Read more... )

Oh my god glasses have gotten expensive. I suppose more than one person has mentioned it in their journals, but it doesn't really sink in until you buy glasses yourself. Huh. At work, I cubed 2200 in my head in an instant, sort of. My brain immediately said "about 10 billion" without ANY intermediate steps. While right (it's actually 10.648 billion), and while my normal shortcuts to math would give me that estimate very quickly, I didn't consciously do any calculation or shortcuts. I realized earlier this week that I'm on the "I have a delicious shake for breakfast, a delicious shake for lunch, and then a sensible dinner" diet plan.
