Shoot me now

I have been on hold waiting to speak with someone in Large California County Red Tape Department for almost 30 minutes. I firmly believe that I will be here until I die. Accruing long distance charges all the while. (I picked a poor time to forget to recharge my cell phone ( Read more... )

GAH! I'm so with you. The waiting is annoying, particularly when there are long distance charges involved. The Muzak is stupifyingly dull. It's the fake-cheery interruption every few seconds to assure us this call is very important to them and they'll be right with us that makes me long to commit senseless violence.

Would you like me to make up a Sims house full of mindless beauricrats to slaughter in your name? 'Cause I'd totally do that for you, my friend, and give you all the hilarious details.

That would rock!

Although there was one good-natured young woman from Alameda County who was cool. She was the one who finally got me my answer.

All the other civil servants in Alameda County can DIE DIE DIE.

Spare CoCo County, though. Or only torture them very slightly. They weren't nearly so evil. I only had to talk to two people, and both were helpful (even if neither had my answer).

Don't worry, I'll keep my hands off the helpful ones. I'll just horribly kill pixel versions of the idjits. I'll have the sad and complete tale for you by morning.

Most of all, though, I'm glad you have the information you needed.

I'm glad you got what you needed. Last time I had to do something like that, I was stuck on hold for about half an hour listening to that Elton John Lion King song (I think?) on some sort of loop. It was not only dreadful music, but there was only one song on their system.

Thank GAWWWWD that's overwith!

I can't stand the horrible music that's endlessly inflicted on us, cycling over and over and over and over and over until you want to SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAM.

Who thought this up? Who? I want to know.

Whatever it was, clearly it was very important. It sucks you had to be on hold for so long!

I needed to know my official divorce date in order to apply for a passport, and I couldn't find the papers anywhere. Thus the endless HELL of bureaucratic phone systems and hold music. *whimpers piteously*

At least it's done. That was an enormous relief. :-)
