Summary: It’s your first day at a new school, in a country you’ve only heard about in History class. Can you really fit in this place when you’re only an “American”?
A/N: I feel bad for adding so much drama. Next fic I make will be happier, I swear! :”(
“Heebum?” You called out. Heechul dropped your arm and ran over to the fence.
“Heebum!” He yelled for. You shivered as the wind it at your legs and jogged over to Heechul.
“Maybe we should come back tomorrow Heechul.” He snapped his head back to you and glared.
“I’m NOT going back until I know that Heebum is alright.” He barked ruthlessly.
“Why are you so worried about him? He’s disappeared before hasn’t he?” you chided back.
“He always finishes eating, no matter what. Food is still here. And if I call after him, he always comes back! I’ve known him since he was a kitten, my first year in junior high, you think I can’t worry about him now?!”
“Kim Heechul, don’t you make me drag you to your house. If you’ve known him for so long, youall of people should know he'll be alright." He bit back his lip and looked at the ground. “Come on, I’ll take you home…”, you spoke much more softly. You held your hand out to him, and he took it slowly. You prayed the six followers had left as Heechul held onto you like child.
The walk home was silent. Heechul’s house was pretty far from the school and so you took the train back, but not a word was spoken between you two. He never let go of your hand either. When you reached the doorway, his hand slipped away and turned the knob of the door.
“Hey.”
You wrapped your arms around his waist and rested your head on his shoulder.
“Promise me you’ll get sleep. I know he means the world to you, but promise me you’ll wait until after school to search for Heebum okay?” You saw his hand tremble on the door knob.
“Promise?” his voice broke, you buried your face into his neck gently.
“I promise.” He opened the door and took one more look at you. He mouth a silent ‘Thank you’ and closed the door.
Monday rolled around quickly, you greeted everyone with the normal ‘Hello’ and made your way down the hall to the classroom. Halfway there, you passed a homeroom with Choy Kyhyun and Co. laughing and chattering away, you stopped for a minute, and step backwards to the doorway. You laughed privately and leaned against the doorway.
“Yah! Cho Kyuhyun!” you said informally. He threw his head up and looked at you before waving.
“Noona! You can’t keep away from me can you? Run into any more poles recently?” He yelled back before you strolled to him, plan forming in your head.
“How would like it if I set you up with a certain someone you’ve been after?” you smiled slyly. Kyuhyun’s smile disappeared as a look of fear replaced it. He quickly grabbed your shoulder and guided you both out the doorway to out in the hall. You looked around, unimpressed. If he wanted to make this a private conversation, he shouldn’t have picked a place where people could still hear you two. He let go of you and leaned against the wall. Eyes now glazed over with imagination.
“Tell me what you know.”
“It’s not that hard to know when Sungmin-sshi is one of my best friends.” You answered smoothly. He leaned in closer with interest as your smile never falters. “He’s noticed that you steal looks at him. So much so that he’s found it scary.” You chuckled as his face falls. “But don’t worry, Noona will do a favor for you since I think you’d be a good thing for him. Just wait here.” You ordered. You ran down the hall, leaving Kyuhyun confused and ran into your homeroom. Sungmin was looking out the window, his pink-sticker covered brief case at his side.
“Sungminnie-ah!” you called cheerfully, startled, he jumps and looks at you confused. This is the first time you’ve been this cheery. “C’mere!~” you beckoned. Hastily and clumsily, he ran after, worried something is wrong. Once in arm’s length you grabbed his wrist and dragged him back to Kyuhyun, ignoring his pleas of letting go and questions about what’s going on. Once you reached a now shocked Kyuhyun, you tossed Sungmin at him.
“Don’t ask questions, either of you,” Sungmin open his mouth to protest, “Not a word!” you pointed at him, promptly shutting him up. “Now, Kyuhyun, you are going to take Sungmin to your place, change the both of you out of your uniforms and take him out on a date. Sungmin you will accept this without fail, and WILL not run away, I have friends in high places and am doing this for the benefit of you both. Be back before dark, don’t take him to clubs, and don’t give him any alcohol. Also, don’t give him too much sugar, or else he won’t shut up for hours and when he does, he’ll probably be passed out on a couch and won’t wake up. Now, go! Have fun! And be careful~” You demanded, Sungmin looked at you hysterically and Kyuhyun grinned at you. On cue, he lifted Sungmin over his shoulder like a sack and walked out to leave, not affected by the beatings onto his shoulder by a flailing and protesting Sungmin. You walked over to the window when they arrived to Kyuhyun’s motorcycle. He plopped Sungmin onto the seat and put a helmet on, and while holding him down with and arm around Min’s waist, he put his own helmet on with the free hand. Kyuhyun sat down and forced Sungmin’s arms around him and before Sungmin could struggle to let go, he pulled out of the school gates. You laughed to yourself when you heard Sungmin scream in anger and terror as he gripped Kyuhyun while they rode.
“___-SSHI!!!!! I’M GOING TO KILL YOOUUUU!!!!”
You sat down at your desk, proud for your good deed.
“___-sshi, was that Kyuhyun leaving with Sungmin-hyung screaming his lungs out?” Siwon questioned next to you. You nodded silently, and looked to the doorway; it was close to class starting, and no sign of Heechul. But the moment you looked away, you heard Siwon say his name. You whipped your head around, relieved he had kept his promise. Heechul caught your eye after greeting his friend and walked over to your desk.
“A promise is a promise.” He leaned into your ear and whispered. You felt a chill run down your back as he was his old self again. He pulled away slightly, before adding one last thing to his sentence. “Kitten.” And with that he kissed you on the cheek before Mr. Lee came in. You looked down to your skirt, face flushed, and saw out of the corner of your eye Siwon with his mouth open. The rest of the lesson passed by quickly like normal and when lunch came around, before Heechul could leave, you grabbed his wrist and forced him to eat with you and the guys (As well as Jessica and Taeyon). Heechul and Siwon started chatting away about the summer with Hangeng somehow squeezed in between them. While Yesung and Ryeoqook were busy eating each other’s faces instead of their lunch. Shingdong was working on eating his food and Kibum, Leeteuk, and KangIn had your full attention.
“So, how was the date between you and Heechul?~” Leetuek asked all giddy. You frowned at him and tried to avoided his piercing stare. Heechul broke his conversation from his lackeys and wrapped an arm around your shoulder and pulled you closer to him before meeting your lips with is. Leeteuk’s jaw dropped and he quickly reached over and you two away from each other.
“Yah! You two shouldn’t be kissing yet! You’re too young to be doing something like that and this was only your first date! Next thing I know, my daughter will come calling me crying that she’s lost because you both got drunk or something and slept together!” he cried out hysterically. Heechul drew his arm back and leaned backwards looking at Leeteuk skeptically.
“Umma~” you wailed annoyingly. “ It’s not like that! Besides, YOU’RE the one who set us up.” Leeteuk gasped.
“Don’t you talk to your Umma like that young-mrpf!” he was cut off by KangIn stuffing noodles into his mouth.
“You know, sometimes you talk too much for your own good.” KangIn sighed before Leeteuk swallowed. Leeteuk pouted at him childishly before slapping Yesung. Causing him to practically choke on Ryeowook’s tongue.
“Yah! What do you two think you’re doing?! You’re a bad influence for your sister!” Yesung rubbed his throat a bit while Ryeowook chewed his bottom lip and looked at his untouched lunch. You laughed nervously and excused yourself from the group to give sometime to yourself. Once you left the cafeteria you waltzed outside and looked out through the fence to the street. You trailed your hand along the fence as you walked alongside it. You walked slowly to collect your thoughts of everything that was happening so quickly. But then, you stopped dead in your track when you saw a blob a gray alongside the street.
No.
No no no no.
NO!
You scrambled over the fence to reach the road, ignoring the cars honking at you while you ran across the road. You were pretty sure there were people yelling, swearing at you, but you didn’t care. You had to be sure. Once you reached the blob, you crouched down. Tears staining your face as you gently stroked the blood soaked fur.
“Heebum…Oh my god...No…”
