I'm still catching up with reviews, but I do have to say one more time, a great thanks to all of you who read and comment on my fics ^__^ It's what makes me stick to my writing schedule and post once a week when possible (I'm a great procrastinator usually) For me, writing is a little like exercising. It's fun, but only after I've been doing it for

Also, I have the mental image of Alfred in a black tuxedo serving wine from goat skins to barbarians now, and sniffing about their lack of dining etiquette at formal functions. You break my brain in all the best ways.
The insight into Ryou's family history and the quandary of ethics/morals per dimensional shift really hits home just how different they are. And how you can be an 'honorable' person, while still having a skewed sense of right and wrong, dependent entirely on the current situation and upbringing. After all, 'Ghan the Beast' might not be the most honorable fellow but Darius at least attempts it. When it doesn't get in thte way of something like survival.
But yes. Much love and Squee.

That's definitely going to be one of the sticking points.
Yay, brain breakage ^__^ And yes, morality is a lot more cultural than our moms and religious leaders would like us to believe :P

That aside - WHAT A CREEPY DREAM!!!! DDDDD: It is NOT a good this that Ryou is forgetting about it. DDDD:
And 'never mistreat another woman,' hmm? There's backstory there... *waggles eyebrows darkly*
LOOOOOOOOOVE the new chapter. :DDDDDDDD (You're going to make me like men with beards, dammit. I DESPISE beards. Except perhaps on Aragorn.)

C'mon, let the beards seduce you ^____^

'Don't think I didn't notice Ryou realizing that his nightmare would become reality if he thought about it too much.' Well spotted. It's not quite a free-for-all when it comes to imagination, but thinking about something deeply, especially when it's 'in transit' and you're thinking about it swimming through the dimensions, is dangerous. You're also right that hte Per Gathas aren't going to be entirely neutral to having a powerhouse like RYou running around without their control. But they have their own axes to grind too...

Darius's recounting of his negotiations was pretty funny, and it makes me laugh every time he calls Ryou 'gentle' or 'selfless'. I understand why he would use those descriptors, but...heh.
And: "Seriously, Ryou, what do you think?"= LOL
Hints of more backstory, foreshadowing for future monsters (and the promised Talk)...yah, I'm anxiously awaiting the next chapter ;-)

Well, this comes back to the whole 'how did capturing cities back in antiquity go down' which I found hard to answer within my 10-minute research rule. From what I read, there were documented instances where surrendering cities were left virtually intact and the population treated okay. That 'virtually' is up for debate, though; I can't help wondering if in those days, a little rape and theft on the edges wasn't considered somewhat par for the course...So anyway, I hedged my bets, and passed the fate of Essin under mere suggestions rather than lots of boring and potentially gory and disturbing details.
Oh yeah, thanks for typo spottnig *fixes*
