A Downy Woodpecker in the garden this morning, a dainty little black and white member of the woodpecker family, working its way up and around the trees, probing into the bark and we were able to watch it for a good few minutes ( Read more... )

So the day started cold and bright and alternated with cold and bright with cold and heavy cloud. After a certain amount of not getting started quickly, we went to the local museum - the C H Moore Homestead. Not long after we went to bed there was a rather large crunch from outside. Investigation from the bedroom window showed that a red pickup, driving on the "wrong" side of the road had managed to arrest its progress by running into a parked car.
