"Missed a birthday, huh?" It wasn't a question. "I'd suggest we should through you a party, but you don't like those."
Zack had always liked Cloud, but it was more than that. He really thought of him as something of a younger brother more than just a friend. It probably had to do with Cloud's interest in joining SOLDIER. And SOLDIER was Zack's family. It occurred to him that Cloud was probably older than him now.

Cloud turned and gave Zack a Look. He wondered if the other man had been following him, but Zack wouldn't be so quiet about it if he had.
"No party," he said firmly. "And don't tell anyone. If Yuffie or Aeris hears about this, they'll insist on it." He was surprised they hadn't already. He couldn't say everyone else forgetting his birthday hurt, but it was...a bit of a wake-up call, he supposed.
Time kept happening even if he didn't pay attention to it. That was...good, he supposed.
