Preggo stress

Jun 19, 2007 13:31

We had a Dr. appt. yesterday afternoon.  Dr. F (our regular OB) is in the Congo, so we had one of his associates for this appointment.  Dr. F is great, and we love him.  He is very relaxed and reassuring, and I've always felt really great when we leave our appointments.  Dr. B, the guy we saw yesterday, was also nice.  But TOTALLY different from Dr ( Read more... )

friends, pregnancy, grrr!, family

So sorry to hear about the doctor news. Is there possibly another opinion you could get? I hesitate to give any kind of advice since I've never been close to those shoes you are in and I know it doesn't make it any easier for you because, hey, this is your first. Maybe, and this may come from the 'totally off-base' bin, you can try some meditation techniques in the meantime and hope for the best when you get your BP checked again? We are of course pulling for you!

And we were very, very honored and excited by you two asking! Congrats to the guys. When is your next exam?

My mom suggested a 2nd opinion also. Dr. B isn't available for the appointment on the 26th, and Dr. F won't be back yet, so I'm seeing a Nurse Practitioner. I definitely plan on asking her a bunch of questions and getting her take on things. I think mainly the doctor wants to be sure I slow down and am mindful about what I'm doing. But he scared the hell out of me yesterday. And today I just feel discouraged. There is so much I want to get done before the baby comes!!

Meditation is a really good idea. And I'll definitely do some of that. Especially since even though I'm physically resting, I can feel myself stressing about what I'm not doing while I lay around. I need to mindful of what's really important. I just don't want Birwulf to feel like a house elf (he he) while I do nothing for the next few weeks.

Thank you for the encouragement!! I always welcome your advice. I promise I'll take good care of your Godchild over the next few weeks =)

Hang in there and tell 'Dobby' that he's got a lot to do before he gets a sock.

I'm feeling much better about things now that I've had time to think about it and do some research. Also... my AUNT is an OB NURSE, and has been for ages!!! I'm such and idiot. I should have called her first thing on Monday evening. But I was so tweaked about everything I didn't even think about it ( ... )

Oh, wow. How does one lay on their side with their feet up? I'm trying to picture it and I just don't see how someone who's preggers could possibly be comfortable. What is your due date? Are you flying to WY? I think that serenity_valley said it best (she always does, doesn't she?!). Take 'er easy and enjoy having your feet up while you can. I, too, will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. All the best!!

Trying to lay on my side up with my feet elevated... you're right. It's pretty much impossible. I've settled with just laying on my side with pillows between my knees. That's what's comfy, and since both of my docs are men, I figure in this case they don't know what they're talking about anyway =)

We're due August 5th. It's coming so fast!!

Thank you for your well wishes!!

Oh duh, I just thought of something else -- you should call Sylvia! She'll be able to answer all your questions and give you advice.

I got your e-mail with her #. Do you think she'd mind me calling? I don't want to bug her.

I'm not even dignifying this with an answer. Other than "duh".

Oh, wow - bedrest would be SO hard! Time to get a laptop so you can surf the tubes while resting...

On a serious note, I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and really, really hoping that this is just a passing thing. If you have to miss your brother's wedding, well, that would suck. But, if it's for your and baby's health, it's worth it. He'll understand and you have to follow the doc's advise! Hopefully, though, this is passing and you'll be able to make the wedding!

Thankfully at the moment I just need to be careful and really cut down on my activities. If I can keep my BP under control things should be fine. But the only way to do that, I guess, is to lay low. Unless things really tank, I have every intention of traveling for the wedding. I'm going to check my BP this weekend to be sure it's maintaining, and depending on that I'll figure out what to do next week. My goal is to just lay low and take it easy (although it sucks because there are tons of things I want to get done and I feel like a lazy cow, but like you said - it's the baby's health. I'll do what I have to!)

One more cow comment from you and you're going to get it! You're a preggers person and you need to take it easy! There's nothing wrong with that and you'd tell me the exact same were the tables turned, now wouldn't you??

Remind me on Saturday - I have a book to give you... it's my favorite of all time. And, I have a whole box of books that you can pick through. I don't know if we have the same taste or not but it might make being a princess a little more tolerable:).

Ok, you're right!! I would tell you the exact same thing if the tables were turned.

Ooohh!! I'd love to borrow some books! Even if they're not something I'd normally pick up, I'm always willing to try something new. I'll remind you on Sat. And thanks!!
