Elena: the golden girl, the leader, the one who can have any boy she wants.
Stefan: brooding and mysterious, he seems to be the only one who can resist Elena, even as he struggles to protect her from the horrors that haunt his past.
Damon: sexy, dangerous, and driven by an urge for revenge against Stefan, the brother who betrayed him. Determined to have Elena, he'd kill to possess her.
Collected here in one volume for the first time, volumes one and two of The Vampire Diaries, the tale of two vampire brothers and the beautiful girl torn between them.
I will admit, I thought that this was going to be just like the Twilight series. Fortunately, I was mistaken. Yes, Elena is a bit of a Mary Sue, and yes, the Stefan and Damon are newcomers to the city, but that is where the similarities end. I thought that these two books were much more mature and the characters were so much more developed than anything that Meyers has written. As someone on the amazon.com reviews said, this series is what Twilight wishes it could be! If I seem to be hating on Meyers, I am sorry but this series is so much better! I cannot wait to read the rest of the series and for the show to start in September. I hope that it does these books justice.
