Amnesia is pretty common here.. I know, I hate the idea as well.

It's called "The Barge" because no one knows what else to call it and that's what everyone else calls it. Wardens, inmates. Inmates died before coming, did something--some things the Admiral deemed monstrous or evil. They're supposed to be redeemed. Wardens.. some died, some made deals to come here. Bringing back a loved one, helping something to succeed-- in exchange for service, for "graduating" an inmate. It's a prison, really. With no escape, where death isn't permanent.

Sometimes the Admiral announces that we've taken on water. You never see anything, but most people on the ship change. Different gender, different personality.. always something strange, usually uncomfortable. Right now, it seems to be someone of significance. You look like someone from here, an inmate you were close to before you disappeared.

West, you've been on this ship for as long as I have. Longer. [Dramatic pause.] I've been here for 19 months.
