I recently joined the Tucson freecycle group because I thought it sounded cool. I can't believe some of the things people offer to give away. Check this out:

Freecycle amuses me no end. The amount of sheer crap that comes across the lists is annoying at times (100+ 8" floppy disks? Used roofing shingles from a leaky roof?), but sometimes there are nice gems that make up for it -- I got a $150+ protein skimmer off of it a couple weeks ago. =)

What is a protein skimmer?

Protein skimmers are used in saltwater fish tanks (especially tanks with a high invertebrate population) that remove surface contaminant organic compounds before they start to break down and pollute the water.
