Eight recognizes that high little voice, and has already coded it as safety. Having spent the last few hours scouting and poking at things with his new carving knife, not to mention successfully fashioning his jar lid into a shield, he's starting to miss having someone to direct him around. And his search has not yet yielded One.
He drags his knife along the ground as he scurries up to her and sets himself down by her ankle. Maybe, if she's tired, he can protect her. He has a feeling like that would be a reasonable thing to do.
"Eight!" She hadn't seen him since early in the morning, but he looked good. Better armed, like a little doll about to go to war.
"Hi, did you find any of your friends?" She settled on her stomach so they could be at eye level, monkey doll tucked tight against her chest. "I found these, aren't they neat? I think they're all animals."
He shakes his head, gallumping over to her face so she can talk to him better. He puts the knife down on the floor, though within reach, and pushes his salt-shaker helmet up. "Did you find Daddy?"
He doesn't seem exceptionally taken with the animals. They aren't moving, so they aren't a threat, although some of them look a little like the creatures that attacked him and his comrades back when One was in charge. Barely, though. They seem fluffy, and enemies don't tend to be fluffy.
She shook her head, kicking her feet lightly. "No, but I found Edward. Did you find any of your friends, Eight?"
She let him poke at the doll, comfortable on the floor with the tiny doll. He was smaller than her, so she should protect him. Like Edward and everyone protected her.

He pokes at the monkey doll's foot, wary.
