1) ARGH.  I was hoping for a more Simone-esque "Bird of Prey."  Guess I should have known better.

2) HAHAHA WOT?  Reporters in 2005 were still using video cassettes?  Why am I skeptical of this?  Also, I guess Gotham *would* have a variety of strangely-outfitted restraints to hand, given Bats' rogues gallery, but did they really have a Lecter muzzle ( Read more... )

Don't hit me.Nah, no smacking. ;-) One of my New Year's Resolutions is to stop wailing/nagging/scolding people for their fictional preferences,* so you're in the clear here. I mean: Mark Hamill will always and forever be MY Joker; there is no question on that. And Heath Ledger's portrayal was the live-action version of the Joker that I'd been waiting my whole life to see. But that's ... y'know, just me ( ... )

I'm still working on figuring out what exactly it is about this Joker that appeals to me so much (aside from the obvious fact that he legitimately creeps me the shit out in a way that I haven't been creeped out before - Hamill!Joker makes me anxious, TDK!Joker unsettles me, but this Joker is straight-up nightmare fuel on every level; I apparently really like this?), but I'll keep you undated as I discover more about what makes him tick and what makes me like this portrayal so much.

I...may not have mentioned the voice actor, actually. It's Kevin Michael Richardson, and he's absolutely perfect.

Haha! By the way, did you know there's an episode of Brave and the Bold featuring the Birds of Prey (in which, among other things, they get up and sing a WHAT THE _HECK_ HOW DID THEY GET _AWAY_ WITH THIS IN A KIDS' SHOW? oh wait they didn't*--song at a nightclub)...that IS written by Gail Simone ( ... )
