Toothache has gotten worse. The only way I can maintain is to keep ice on my tooth, so laying down to get to sleep isn't exactly an option. I'm betting that a root canal is in my future.

I sympathize. I'm out of pain right now after a run of antibiotics, but I'll be either having a root canal or having the tooth removed in the near future.
I don't know what you've tried for the pain besides ice, but 800mg of ibuprofen every 8 hours is what I was recommended by my dentist. It gave me some relief at a point when ice did nothing.

I think I was up to 1200 mg by 3 this morning and it only dulled the pain. After the dentist visit this morning, I now have vicodin to help with that, and it's much better.

Yeah, stress on *some* relief for me. I ended up resorting to vicodin too. Glad you're in less pain.

Argh! Aren't teeth supposed to last a lifetime, with no intervention?

I know some people swear by clove oil for tooth pain, but I'm pretty sure they don't stock that at the drugstore.

I hope you got some sleep.
