All it took is another chain of command (not his own) to put in the paperwork and honor him. Goddess knows his own chain of command has NO CLUE what Jim does everyday since they have not checked in on him in two freaking years!

Here's some irony... this morning there was a "practice run" for rapid deployment and he got in trouble (from his true chain of command out at the aid station) for not responding to the page. HELLO.... how many fucking times does he have to explain that his pager DOES NOT work in his building?! There is a 12 in STEEL structure surrounding his office and scramblers in the building! DAH! Any moron who works a day in that building would realize that, but apparently Jim telling these guys this is not enough. Bastards.
