Fandom and a Meme

I stayed up half the night reading posts defending fanfiction, and it was gloriously worth it. It was rather inspiring, actually, and I'd quite like to write essays establishing my own thoughts on fandom and various branches of it. I believe I teased that I was going to do so about RPF as soon as finals stopped eating my brain, and I never did, ( Read more... )

I have to pick just one of each?! (Fandom and OTP, I mean.)

Omi and Nagi are totally my OTP from Weiss Kreuz. They're the youngest members of their respective groups (Weiss, Schwarz), but by no means the weakest. Their personalities are somewhat opposite: Omi is the out-going but not over-the-top happy one (despite how Fandom tends to portray him), while Nagi is quiet and hangs back. They are both unlucky in (het) love, which I won't spoil for you. I wish I could remember what happened in Gluhen, because I think there was something sort of canon that happened -- but I hate Gluhen so much that I'm not going to rewatch it to find out. Doctor/Rose: In 900 years the Doctor didn't know true love until he met this anything but ordinary shop girl. The man we all thought was almost asexual was almost instantly smitten and Rose crossed time and space and alternate realities to be with her Doctor. They are the definition of epic.

Dean/Castiel: For millennia the angel Castiel knew only faith and obedience to Heaven, but upon meeting Dean he began to question and rebel to follow him instead. He gave up everything for Dean and would follow him to the ends of the earth. To give up everything you knew for thousands of years for one human, you can't not be in love with them. I can only hope Dean feels the same way.
