Uplifting fics

Well, it's my birthday tomorrow and it looks like I'll be spending it stuck at home instead of going out for a meal at one of my favourite restaurants like I had planned as I've contracted a virus and feel utterly sick and miserable :-(  So I thought I might try reading some uplifting M7 fanfics to cheer me up.  Basically, I'm looking for the kind ( Read more... )

Okay, so it's not the Christmas season, but G.M. Atwater's "Hope, and Angel's Wings" is the first thing I can think of. That early-morning scene with Vin, Buck, and JD is downright lyrical, and the great climactic battle is pure delightful fun. (it's gen, OW)

If you don't mind crossovers, Gil Hale's "Demolition Men" is one, long, glorious rampage (Ezra puts it something like "All the hallmarks of Chris Larrabee in an explosive mood") with Jim Ellison from "The Sentinel" along for the ride and Ezra, Vin and Blair Sandberg trailing behind, open-mouthed. (Gen, ATF)

Thank you so much, I've just read "Hope and Angel's Wings" and it was just what I was looking for - a "new" (at least for me) story that put a big fat smile on my pale, sickly face! :-D

I'm looking forward to reading "Demolition Men" tomorrow as it's a bit late here to start a long story. Thanks again :-)

My own recent Christmas story, for once with Ezra spreading the holiday cheer - http://community.livejournal.com/mag7_fic/165578.html .

Thank you, that was a lovely story and definitely uplifting. Actually, reading fanfics isn't a bad way to spend a birthday :-)

Santa Ez by Pat Merritt: Ezra plays Santa for an adorable bunch of kids down on their luck over the winter season. The youngest girl, Laura, is convinced that Ezra is old Saint Nick, and that Vin is his helper.

How Four Idjiots Got Baptized by Pat Merritt: Chris goes a bit far in his mother-henning of the others. They seek revenge... Four gentlemen, a chicken, a funeral, and a baptism.

The Brief But Heroic Saga of Ezra & Elijah Standish by The Cohorts: Ezra dresses Vin in his clothes to hide him from bounty hunters.

No Place Like Home by J.Brooks: Ezra and JD go off to Topeka in pursuit of a bank robber. Things Do Not Go Well.

I'll have to read these tomorrow because it's late here (I live in England) but now I'm actually looking forward to spending my birthday in "isolation"! Thank you so much :-)

light, fun stuff anonymous January 28 2011, 22:46:29 UTC
Being sick on your birthday just plain stinks. I'd self-medicate with chocolates, hot cocoa, and RETIRW's humor on fanfiction.net

Warning - Her angst can be potent stuff - ATF 13, "Lost and Found" can be harrowing in places, but healing, and the sequel, #14 "Death takes a Holiday" has some tough moments, but several flashes of light stuff, too. "Splinters of Glass" and "Regrets and Choices" are dark and intense.

HOWEVER... "Puppy Tales", "Snakes, Sainthood, and the Baptism of Sinners", "We Really Tried", and "Just Hanging Around" may be just what the doctor ordered.

Happy birthday, and hope you feel better!

Yep, being sick on your birthday stinks alright :-(

I might have swine flu and don't want it spreading to my friends and family so I'll probably be by myself most of the day as I don't want anyone else to feel the way that I do right now (at least nobody I like!)

Now though, I'm actually looking forward to a little solitary time eating chocolate and reading your recommendations, plus I am usually an angst junkie so when I feel better I'll also read the other stories.

Thank you so much :-D
