Crisis and then better.

I got dad all moved to assisted living yesterday and was settling in to cozy up and faff around as it was damp and rainy outside when the nursing home called, "Oops, we forgot to send his walker!" (This is a specially designed walker made to train him to use both his legs again.) "Can you come pick it up today? The answer was "No." As in "no, I am ( Read more... )

Thanks! I was SO GRAR at being woke up. The hospital was lucky I remembered where Dad was staying and that I was coherent (and that I answered the phone, really).

I think the little info-packet plus the Medic Alert medallion will help in the future. And I most certainly plan a restful day today.

Hopefully things will calm down as he settles in more. *hugs*

My cats won't eat the super-expensive dry food either. Well, one of them will sort of grudgingly eat it if he's hungry enough, and the other one will literally starve herself until she gets Kitty Crack. Neither of them have a problem eating spiders, bugs, crumbs they find on the floor, and things that aren't food (I have to be super careful with string or thread because the boy cat will gobble it down like spaghetti), so I don't know why they're so picky!

Thanks for the hugs! They're needed!

What is it with kitty crack, anyway? Whatever they spray those nuggets with, cats LOVE the stuff.

I know, right? Same with those Temptations cat treats - my two come running whenever they hear me open the bag. They're like the Keystone Kops falling over each other on their way down the stairs.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add that Anastasia loves things like crumbs, spiders, and, most of all, earbuds. I have to hide my earbuds from her. But expensive organic cat food that is supposed to be something kitties love - naaah.

I've heard that - UTI's in the elderly cause cognitive problems as well as the usual ouchiness. Poor Dad was SO out of it yesterday when he arrived he refused lunch (not like him at all) and only wanted to sleep. The attendants wondered if it was the Seroquel, but now looking back he probably had a nasty fever and was feeling really punky from that UTI! He was loads better today. I definitely will talk to his doc about a standing prescription because I don't think Dad should have to be shuffled through the ER (it's hard enough doing so when you're young and able-bodied, when you're old and sick it really sucks).

Eek! I'm glad he's OK and you got that sorted out as well, and that you can get back some of that lost chill time.

Also, I miss falling back - but not springing forward, haha!

I don't like springing forward, either!
