Meme time and the daily bulletin from the four legged ex-patient

Jan 06, 2008 16:57

First: Robin's fit again! And even more: We both have survived lunging. Luckily it rained all night, so the ground of our outdoor arena was pretty soft and deep. Robin doesn't like deep ground - it's exhausting to move on. So his inborn phlegm mostly won over his wish to play the wild thing. He only jumped and raced for three or four times and then ( Read more... )

As you said in the answer to my meme: it's hard to find something to tell you that you don't already know.
Hmmm
I hate cabbage - with passion. I was forced to eat meals with cabbage as a kid and now cabbage is possibly the only thing I'm refusing, meal-wise.

I'll think of it when you'll come around next time. ;-)
So I won't serve you the Wirsing in Sahne we have had today for lunch. ;-)

Thank you for that!

Well you could, to indicate that I overstrained your hospitality ;-)

Okay. If you'll ever do so, you'll notice by me suddenly offering you cabbage. ;-)
Only I think you couldn't stay for so long. Your husband would, methinks, ask for you after two or three months. ;-)

I can only make one dessert without a recipe book. It is sour cream and dried fruit salad.

Sounds good to me. I love fruit salad.
Besides I can make only two desserts without a recipe book. The one is fruit salad and the other is pancakes with jelly. ;-)

I get headaches when it's very sunny.

Poor you! I know how lousy it feels - I'm pretty touchy when it comes to heath too.

Actually your user name actually shows that you must like warmth. I think Hawaii is beautiful, but I wouldn't want to go there because of the heath.

"The international flavor of my everyday life"? Wow! And here I'm always thinking that I'm living a rather boring life.

Let's see: I'm a single mom of a 6 year old boy, I have Crohn's disease, I'm a complete geek - love action figures, stop-motion animation, comic books and have a degrees in Geology/Anthropology with a minor in History. I'm the Personal Assistant to the Youth Minister in a very large Catholic church here but am not Catholic myself. I live in the southern US, near the Gulf of Mexico and was born in New Orleans.

Oh, and I loathe cabbage also. ~g~

It seems I'm rather alone with liking cabbage. ;-)
I promise: If you'll ever come to Germany and to visit me, I won't serve any cabbage. Instead I'll make you cook some Southern food. I do so love it!

I'd be more than happy to whip up some southern food for you. I live in south Louisiana (around 20 minutes from the coast) and can make a wonderful shrimp (or chicken) gumbo, crawfish etouffee, jambalaya or just about anything else. Oh, my crab chowder is most excellent. ~g~

What kind of southern food do you like?

And I've always wondered this (and it may be a very stupid question): in the States we have Italian restaurants, Chinese, German, Japanese, Cambodian etc. Do other countries have American food restaurants? And I'm not talking chain restaurants like Taco Bell or McDonald's. I was wondering if there are restaurants where you can get chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, macaroni and cheese...American comfort food.

I love crab chowder (only I don't know how to pronounce it - I'm always mumbling "This crab stuff, you know ...") and I will always remember the wonderful Southern chicken I was once having. And then there was a kind of bread with it - warm and made from corn which I really liked. And spare ribs - I love spare ribs (but that isn't typical Southern kitchen, isn't it?).

And no, your questions about restaurants really isn't stupid. I've once wondered about German restaurants in America too. ;-)
Well, let me think about the countries in Europe I know except of good, old Germany.
Switzerland - perhaps you'll find an American restaurant in Zurich or Geneva, but certainly not in the German speaking smaller cities close to the German border.
Netherlands: No, don't think so (Corrieke, are you with us? Then the question goes to you). But there you can get wonderful Indonesian food around every second corner ( ... )
