Hah, that's funny! Kind of reminds me of a Study in Emerald. I like that you spent the story talking about how it was a good opportunity and making the reader feel as if Watson was going to accept, despite Stamford's wierd look in the beginning.
Thank you! I was also inspired by a published pastiche called The Veiled Detective, where a young Watson is duped into being in Moriarty's employ, and forced to spy on Holmes. It's a decent AU, but I like my Watsons to have a bit more intelligence and backbone. :)
Tell me about it! The only reason why I'm reluctant to watch the Basil Rathbone movies is because they say that Watson is pretty bad. Ah well; I'll watch it eventually!
