Norwegians

Jun 07, 2009 10:03

Yesterday was Nordic Fest up at the lodge.  They had a rosemaling demonstration, a waffle contest, Norwegian "food" for sale, games, fake Viking weddings, and Kyle did a chainmail demonstration while I did a hardanger demonstration.

Thanks! I like it when people post pictures because it's like a little peek into their lives.

Whoa, is that one of my hardanger pieces on the table?

I hope you got the brochures printed :) (looks like you did)

I have both the books I saw on your table :D

YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE AWESOMENESS OF CHAINMAIL.

I think your outfit looks cute.

Yes it is! I haven't had the chance to frame it yet because it doesn't fit into the pre-made frames I have so I'm waiting to get it framed professionally.

I printed out 20 brochures and only handed out 9 :(. I'm going to hold on to the extras because I'm sure there will be other events this summer.

Well I know Michaels offers frame pieces so you could build your own.

How horrified were people by my hardanger color choices? ;)

Are you kidding? They thought it was fantastic that "young people" are doing this stuff and how neat it was that they made it "contemporary."

If you've ever eaten it, you'd know.

I used to dress up for the Renn Faire and I never could get my boobs to pop out like those other wenches. :/

That is very unfortunate.

Also, the outfits that we wear to the Norwegian events are called bunads and unfortunately do not encourage boob-popping, but rather the aim is to make you look as dumpy and unappealing as possible.
