As I understand it, it started off as a way to smack clueless idiots who dismissed sexism as not a big deal, or didn't see the need for affirmative action, etc. But it's devolved into a synonym for "What would you know, you middle class white boy/girl? STFU and let the people livin' in da real world talk!" Yeah, because if you have time to be on a comm bitching about the "masculine" colours of office supplies, your life is SO tough.
