I just have to say that I agree with you about the non-canonness (is that a word?) of uniforms. But I like drawing them anyway. :) However, if they don't wear uniforms, I also find it hard to believe that Ron (or any Weasley) wears Muggle clothes either. This being because his own father (as well many other wizards) seems incapable of understanding the concept of dressing in normal muggle clothing. So, either Ron's generation is just way cooler and more muggle fashion-savvy than the older generations, or everyone's just NAKED under their robes. :D
Actually, hate to contradict you on the muggle clothing thing - but in GoF, I think it's 'The Portkey' chapter, it's stated something like: "though the Weasley children donn muggle clothing in the summer..." and goes on to chat about Arthur's muggle disguse for the Quidditch World Cup.

Seriously?! Wow you just totally answered THAT question for me. I am SO glad that they know how to dress themselves. I was honestly wondering why it was so hard for everybody to wear normal muggle clothes.
*wishes for the copy of GoF that's like a bazillion miles away* :(
Well, I was nearly right - it's in the chapter 'Back to the Burrow'
He had rarely seen Mr and Mrs Weasley wearing anything the Dursleys would call 'normal'. Their children might don Muggle clothing during the holidays, but Mr and Mrs Weasley usually wore long robes in varying states of shabbiness.
