There's a thunderstorm happening maybe a quarter mile away in an otherwise sunny day. I don't know if I can accurately describe how surreal is the collection of sensory inputs coming into my apartment. It looks like the actual storm will pass us to the west, which also feels wrong: it's one thing to watch a storm roll in, another to watch it amble ( Read more... )

Well, it didn't _pass_ by here.
I was out trying to tow the tractor out of the barn, standing under a bunch of pine trees, dragging 50 feet of nicely conductive chain along the ground when it came through.
I was getting the cracklin' lightning, not the booming thunder, so it was too darn close to keep working.
Fortunately it was short lived, and I was able to finish once it quit.
