A Year to Live (here)

Apr 11, 2011 09:42

I hate when people say you should live like you're going to die tomorrow. Or even next year. That's just a terrible way to prioritize. If was going to die next year I would have great life insurance, plane tickets to Thailand and and no real job or savings account ( Read more... )

The National Zoo. Get there when it opens first thing in the morning. Leave when the strollers start taking up all the sidewalks. Make a point if seeing Asia Teail, the cheetahs, lion/tiger hill, elephant trails, and the golden lion tamarin monkeys.

See a film at the Uptown theatre.

I like both of these options. I also appreciate the "when to go" advice. I'll have to remember that.

Oooh, I do love the zoo - I went last fall, but haven't seen any of the tinycats yet.

I was just talking to Jessica the other day about how she's never been up the Washington Monument. That is a thing you both should do.

You've been to Great Falls, right? I'm pretty sure you have. I haven't been since middle school, I think. We should do that. Alternately, more butt-tubing! (I can't wait.)

Roller coasters! Museums! IS IT WARM WEATHER YET??

Yes! All of these! (Or some of all of these - there are only so many weekends in a year.)

Write your congressperson and get a tour inside the White House

Take one of my walking tours around Lafayette Park :)

Have a good meal outside and linger over drinks and desserts -- suggestions : L'Enfant @ 18th and U, Perry's (roof deck), Open City (brunch, great for people watching), Lauriol Plaza (roof desk, margaritas!)

High tea and a tour of the National Cathedral. My mom and I did this years ago and it was a blast!

Hmmmm. I haven't been terribly interested in the WH tours, but maybe it should go on my prospective nostalgia list.

Lingering over outdoors meals and drinks is for sure, that takes no special urgency. Being able to do that late, late into the night without even thinking about a coat is the best part of summer here, as far as I'm concerned.

Pay $14 for the Rich People Seats at a Bowie Baysox game. If you go next Tuesday, I can go with you (we can find our other skater-in-crime) and we get a free hot dog, chips and soda too. Helmet sundaes are extra and compulsory. Friday, April 29 is Date Night.

Get an ice cream cone from Annapolis Ice Cream Company or Storm Bros and go eat it sitting on the edge of the City Dock looking over towards Eastport and the Chesapeake Bay.

Have some cream of crab soup before you do that.
