Notice Given

Was all nervous and prepared to make my case about not giving 30 days notice of intention to not renew based on compromised habitability conditions and whatnot; turned out I didn't need to be. He was completely nonplussed by the information, said I didn't need to file anything in writing, wished me ( Read more... )

Congratulations you two!! I am sorry it's been such a harrowing experience, but I am (selfishly) glad to have both of you back and closer to the fold. xoxo

Well, don't pop the champagne just yet; we haven't found a place, so we don't know where we'll end up. Could be down thisaway, could be B-more, it's all still up in the air.

Congratulations remain :) I hope you find the best, most amenable living situation for you guys -- if it happens to be closer to us as well, all the better :)

Between the mold and the fungus, the landlord didn't have a leg to stand on, even if your lease wasn't up for another eleven months.

said I didn't need to file anything in writing

I'd suggest one of two things:

A)Having him send you acknowledgment of lease termination in writing.

or

B)Send him a certified letter in writing.

Maybe I just spend too long with lawyers and contract officers, but if someone says there is no need for documentation is means I REALLY need to have documentation.

I may be paranoid, but my paranoia has always served me well.

yeah, we've been doing pretty well on this. throughout the whole process, we've had the manager and landlord saying they don't need things in writing, but we've been taking lots of pictures and sending lots of emails.

I hadn't thought of an actual certified letter. that's not a half bad idea.
