I think I missed some things while I was away from LJ in August. Did you move into a new building/place?

This post reminded me of being in my RV when the heater broke. It can get colder inside than it is outside! Glad you were okay last night, hopefully the weather stays good for you tonight too!

Well, yikes!

Now you know to pack for some emergency like that ever possibly happening. But that must have been bad. How did you get out of that fix?!?!

Yes, I made a difficult move from northern Illinois to Central Iowa, kinda SE Iowa. More difficult than it should have been. The theory is that now I should begin saving money. But my gov't benefits will be going down, and I now owe thousands because of the move itself. And life here is not convenient or people-free.

Eh.

Now, I have no references for this data point, and don't even recall where it initially came to me, but I have come to understand that the giant sloth is one of the main reasons we have avocados today. It appears that in whatever long ago the giant sloth and the avocado tree co-existed, avocados were one of its favorite snacks. and would nibble them off the trees when it encountered them. In the course of nature, the reasonably substantial avocado pits would pass through the giant sloths, and end up being seeded wherever they may have roamed .... kind of like humans and tomatoes.

That's amazing!

I have wondered why avocados exist, since they are obviously designed to be carried and eaten. And humans were around long enough to coevolve. Maybe the sloth had a giant asshole for pooping out those seeds.

That's great info - probably true I suspect. But science can sometimes be a prude.
