No, the chapter isn't ready, before you ask. But I'm making slow but steady progress on it. This will be the second-to-last chapter, and it's chock full of action/plot scenes which all have to contain exactly the right plot points and which all have to occur in a specific order and it's damned hard to write ( Read more... )

I've decided that I will not post these shorter installments until they are complete. Once they are, I will post them, say, a chapter a week. This means that while you may still be waiting between stories for several months or more, you will never be waiting mid-story again. Also, if I decide that I'm quitting the HP ficcing scene, at least I won't be leaving a story unfinished.

Thank you for explaining that. People in this fandom tend to have short attention spans, in part because there's so much fan fic competing for their attention. I managed to miss the cookie you posted a few weeks back and still haven't found time (just due to my own personal life) to go back and read it :-O So I think you're on the right track with the post HWTF stories. I hope you'll never quit the HP ficcing scene; it would leave a giant, unfillable hole in that landscape.

Thank You princessjag April 14 2006, 15:22:06 UTC
Lori,
I will read your stories as long as you continue to write them. Thank you for devoting so much of your time to our entertainment. I don't think fan fiction writers get enough credit. You get a ton of "when will you post next" and a lot of responses after a chapter has been posted, but I do not think you get enough "Thank You for spending so much of your time". Those of us who are not talented enough to actually write a fully developed story may not understnad the kind of commitment, not just time, that you put into your stories. I know I look forward to your every posting. POU was the first fan fic I ever read and I look forward to seeing what you have in store for our favorite couple. So Lori I thank you for bringing me into HP Fandom, what little bit I de-lurk to actually get into. Thanks for writing such wonderfully entertaining, well thought out stories. I now I will by a copy of "Third" as soon as it hit the shelves. I can't wait to see what you have up your sleeves. Thanks! Joey

Definitely! I think at this point in time - your story is currently the only WiP I still follow that I'd drop anything to read, despite my best to try to finish whatever I'm currently doing first before reading - I end up tormenting myself and give up and read first, then continue along. :)

I totally agree with your decision. As a fanfic reader myself I dislike waiting long periods between chapters as I usually forget where the last one ended off and end up having to go back and re-read the last few chapter before reading the update. However I do understand the pressures of wanting to get a chapter right before posting it.
I think if you update us every once in awhile so we know what you're working on and the progress you are making we'll all be totally psyched to read the new stories in their entirety.
Can't wait for new HWTF!! :0
