What are we thinking?

Why is it when a child gets physically ill that the mother's reaction is to stick her hands out and attempt to catch the results? I hav never understood this. I have had this discussion with my own mother and she couldn't explain it and didn't understand it either, and yet for years she has found herself covered in the vomit of her children ( Read more... )

Poor Zane, I hope he feels better soon. And I know what you mean about trying to catch it . . .I do the same thing.

I think the sign of my mommying ability is that I didn't throw up while standing there holding it in my hands. Though I did have to wash it off very quickly, and it was slimy. :(

I was with a friend of mine (who has no children) when Abby got sick once. I of course did everything short of using my own shirt to wipe it up and help her. My friend.....about 15 feet away from the car & gagging. There are some things only a mother can (and will) do.
Hope Zane feels better soon.

I don't know if you ahve ever listened to Jeff Foxworthy. He is a pretty famous Southern comedy and he has a whole sketch about Mothers. Really funny. And each time a find myself doing something he has mentioned, it is even funnier. :)

We have a couple of the Blue Comedy tour DVDs....he is funny. We went to see Larry the Cable Guy awhile back. I agree, they are funny because they tell the truth, not matter how sad it is. :-)
