Virus, most likely. There's one out there that has that exact set of symptoms.

Bugger. I was hoping that wouldn't be the answer. You able to point me to it's details and how I can check?

Not directly. It's common enough now that any virus scanner should be able to sort it out though.

One of my friends had exactly the same problem with PC-Cillian firewall/anti-virus. The problem is that this antivirus isn't sold anymore because most people had a lot of problems with it.

Here it is : when you've got a virus (I think you do have one), the PC-Cillian anti-virus can't work properly as long as you want to be on the net. You have to *remove* the antivirus in order to go on the net (at least, it was my friend's problems).
Do you think of buying another anitvirus?
