He's not nearly as well known as he should be, or rather, most of the people I mention him to haven't heard of him, despite the fact that he was fabulous and also made in Melbourne. He fled, of course, to England, where he created fantastic performance art. He died on New Year's Eve 1994. These photos may give some indication of what I'm up to with

Yeah saw a DVD of his in Sydders...really wanted it, but it was $70!.
Leigh Bowerey is great, just great individual extreme fashion/art.

Hi I came across your posts in 'Catsuits' - I certainly remember Leigh Bowery, although I don't remember ever actually meeting him. However I do recall seeing him perform with the Michael Clark compacy in the early 1990s, when he shared the stage with Michael Clark's mother. It did look a bit odd as she was about half his size
