That's excellent advice, taking all the help you can get.

Glad to hear the hospice people are coming out to talk to you and your mom. Having information is good, even if you don't choose to use it immediately.

On a related topic, I have a question for the hospice person. Do they allow smoking on their premises? If not, I have no doubt your mom will not want to go.

Actually, Mom won't be going to hospice, they'll be coming here. She wants to die here. I'm sure they don't allow smoking there(I don't know for sure), but if she ends up there, she'll no doubt be past wanting to smoke.

Hurrah for Crystal AND the hospice people coming tomorrow! Might make your Mom face up to what's really happening to you as well.

I'm SO glad that at the very least, you'll be getting more respite! Whole days of it must sound like heaven to you.

In Tacoma, we can get hospice care services in the person's own home. Is that done where you live at all? What we would have had with my Mom is better equipment in the house, a nurse visiting to help with medication, and a trained nurses aid when we needed one. They would have supervised her medication and she would have been allowed to pass away at home. It would have been paid for by a combination of medicaid and Indian Health.

I'm glad you got the social worker involved. She sees how important your own physical and mental health is, which is great. And I'm glad your mom hasn't completely closed the door on hospice care. They've been so helpful to me and my family, I hope that your mother will relent and allow them to help her, too.
