Oooh! Looking forward to seeing some pics. Sounds like quite an interesting concept.
As for the Maxis custom hairstyles, I think I noticed that in my game, though I can't check it to be sure right now (get well soon, compy!). This may be to prevent them from becoming genetic (so it's more like a dye job or a wig, which rainbow hair probably should be). Custom hair can be genetic if used in bodyshop, and are dominant... at least that's how I understand it. I try to use hair that is binned, even if it's cc.
Ahh, the tentacles were a custom hair and they are genetic so that makes perfect sense.
I'll have to make sure not to give any of my bodyshop sims the clown hair I have. I don't want genetic clown hair (big red ring around the head frow--it's hilarious but only in small doses).
I think Zoiberg's last name is Squidlin. But don't quote me on that.
For the one family (only four members total) a small maxis house will be fine. But for the other family (who's rich) they'll need something bigger (6 sims total). I'm thinking I'll use that one mansion (the one I used in Peculiar and now refer to as the alien mansion). It has a nice flow and looks like a real mansion (the other mansion has very little room but definitely looks lavish--very Robin Leech--that's the mansion I have in Nocheat Truth Laide's family).
It's definitely NOT PT. Though he did show up in the welcome wagon (with Jenny and Nervous). And Johnny is still a teen so. . .that's all I'm going to say about that.
Yep, Maxis custom hair not being available is normal. I bin all my normal-colored custom hair now anyway, but when I didn't I always tried to remember to start most Sims with Maxis hair and not custom so that they'd inherit a normal hair color instead of the custom style, and change in the mirror before playing.
You can tweak personality with debug mode -- just enter it in the neighborhood screen and then go into the lot.
Since the sims I was making were all weirdos (who probably won't breed) it doesn't matter what hair they get (or they have to have a weird hair for their look).
