I really tried to like that show but I couldn't deal with the similarity. It just felt like the Tesco Value version!

It is very, very different at this point. I mean, it's still filmed in Vancouver and still about the FBI investigating paranormal things, but the mytharc is all about alternate universes and there is nothing to do with aliens, which gives it a very different feel. Now I think it's more an homage than a ripoff.

Which doesn't mean I'll be able to properly deal with this plotline, but we'll see.

I tried to watch it when it first came out but I found myself more interested in the freaks of the week than the main characters. I've heard lots of fans say it took them the whole first season to warm up to Olivia though. So between that and the fact that everything I've been hearing about the rest of the seasons sounds like something I'd like, I think I'm saving this one for DVD. I suspect the Olivia issues will be easier for me to get past when I'm blasting through episodes, you know? We'll see...

Hmm, well, maybe it's a good thing I have seen approximately one episode of the first season, then. The DVDs would certainly be one way of dealing with that, though, yeah.
