{Joe’s eyes narrowed as he read Methos’ expression with a discerning eye. He threw back the covers and reached for his prostheses leaning against the nightstand. “Gimme ten minutes and we’re outta here,” he snapped grimly.}

I love this exchange. Joe and Methos have gotten to a stage of their friendship where they not only listen to each others' stories, they strive to understand each others' silences and necessary lies. It would be so easy for Methos to cut loose from Dawson. I get the feeling that Dawson trusts him to do just that, when the time comes.

MacLeod's disassociation from his most loyal friends has always puzzled and frustrated me in both canon and fanon, but your underpainting of his character makes his actions both believable and painfully understandable.

I'm looking forward to Cassandra's addition to this volatile situation.

Well, as an author, her appearance surprised me a little, but it made sense after I'd already typed the opening paragraph. I'm also interested (and a little nervous) about her unexpected appearance. *g*

Wow, I love the way this story is getting deeper, richer, more complex, and more complicated. What I picture to be as droves of Immortals suddenly arriving in Arizona is a pretty remarkable image with which to end this chapter.

I'm really looking forward to more.
