Mab knew when she hit Norrin that she wasn’t hitting him because he was the person she wanted to. It’s because she couldn’t live with hitting the one she wanted to. It was undeniable as the pain of the double fracture spun down the long bones of her forearm that it wasn’t Norrin or herself that she wanted hurt at this moment. Norrin was too young in heart in mind for all his time. Hurting herself didn’t matter that much. She wanted to hurt Bobby. Half wished she had taken him up on that offer to be hit. The punch she offered him wouldn’t have been an angry slap, but a damaging hit. To the cheek, maybe fracturing the bone there. Would have been too easy to get that angry and hurt him too much. It didn’t help that she was realizing how many problems he had with different parts of her. How the magic that was such a defining part of her life bothered him so much. That the fact she wasn’t human and thus dealt in different standards left him resenting her. He couldn’t stand needing her, and tonight, it made her want to hurt him. Break a bone or cause some tissue damage, make him hurt a little physically the way she was starting to feel emotionally. She wanted to so badly that it almost scared her. There was no way this was healthy. The arm that should be broken in two places was more than enough proof of that.
