Klansmen - hmmm. I think I'll file this one under 'interesting'. Things I liked - teary Doyle and 'Bodie, you half-Irish s-o-b, what did you want to go and do that for?', Tommy (the young actor did a good job), whumped Doyle (never let it be said that I'm not predictable), and the fact that Clemens did give a go at telling a hard story. Poor old Barry Martin tossing Bodie and Doyle around just doesn't work, does it? *g* The first time I saw it, I thought maybe they were supposed to be humouring him for old time's sake, because, just no.

I cant believe anyone called themselves 'When the Cat's Been Spayed'. Utterly barkingly brilliant! Thank you for the link too, because there was no way I wasn't going to have to listen to them *g*

Heh, the band name is a sort of 'fingers' to the original band, and without context must sound very barking indeed. *g* But I do love them - totally sweet and sour in their music.

Yes, I think Barry would have been better without the silly scene at the start. It's still a good ep though, and I note that the evil 'Red Billionaire' is not brought to justice in the ep. Afterwards, perhaps.....

Bodie's character arc is not at all convincing

This is exactly my problem with Klansmen too. It's a shame that they tried to use Bodie's character that way but without making it plausible, or indeed anything other than an obvious but vague political message.

I agree about Barry Martin in Rogue too. I'd never thought about it like that! *g*

Klansmen is basically 'Racism is Bad!' which yes, it certainly is, but some parts of the story undercut that very message, the scene where Bodie is stabbed, for example. It's not clear at that point that the men concerned are the property developer's thugs, and it looks at first sight like a random act of violence. But yeah, can't have everything.

They could have displayed BM's martial skills in a so much more subtle way if they wanted to go that path, but then subtle isn't generally the show's MO, of course. :-)
