Pros Rewatch and Music Link

Klansmen - hmmm. I think I'll file this one under 'interesting'. Things I liked - teary Doyle and 'Bodie, you half-Irish s-o-b, what did you want to go and do that for?', Tommy (the young actor did a good job), whumped Doyle (never let it be said that I'm not predictable), and the fact that Clemens did give a go at telling a hard story. Otoh, all a bit simplistic, and Bodie's character arc is not at all convincing. As the spouse put it, it doesn't really count if all he wants is to get into the pretty nurse's panties. Crude but sadly true.... Rogue has some really nice character bits for Cowley and the lads, but I think that Barry Martin's 'turning' might have been more realistic if he hadn't been depicted as quite such a physical super-spy. Sorry, Glyn Owen, but I cannot believe that you are still capable of throwing Doyle and Bodie around like that. It would have been more than enough if you were just wily and experienced. Conflicted Doyle unable to shoot Martin was good, as was whumped Bodie with the knife in his shoulder. Yes. Predictable as the rising of the sun.

This post's music link needs a bit of explanation, and you'll probably still be all 'WTF did I just listen to?' regardless. In the 1980's, some well-known NZ women singers formed a girl group called When The Cat's Away and had a hit with a cover of Blue Mink's Melting Pot. In the early nineties, another group of NZ women singers formed a group called When the Cat's Been Spayed, and put out a couple of albums that I've seen described as 'folk kitsch'. I only wish that The Girl Guide Song was online. And so, with that background, I present to you Taumarunui on the Main Trunk Line, a tale of love and loss, with train noises. (and a fixed link)
