It is weird now to think of Mario being retired. He was such an important leader and teammate during my years in Pittsburgh, and he remains a friend still today. I never got to play with Makr and while I understand what he meant to the Rangers as a team, I am finding myself more overcome about Mario's departure than anything else. I do think

I was there for Mario's first retirement. I think you rejoined us the following season, when I was wearing the C. It was overwhelming the first time around, and it still is this second time. Mario has always been everything I have aspired to be.

It was difficult watching Mess leave us. I have such admiration for him. He cannot be replaced and that's why I won't wear the C for our team now.

Marty, it's always been fun playing with you. And I'm glad we will be playing together in the Olympics again too. ;)
