Fic: The Great Random Xander Story - Iteration One (11b/?)

Yes, despite the fact that he's in maybe 20% of this story, this is still the Great Random Xander Story. Also, we're still in semi-NSFW territory, although most of that is just people talking about sexy stuff rather than actually doing sexy stuff. IF one were rating such things, one might call it rated R, but I of course am above such petty ratings ( Read more... )

Forgive me if I'm talking out of my ass here, but couldn't a lot of Faith's problems be dealt with by hiring a properly trained psyhical therapist to work with her? I know that getting her synch rates up to control cybernetic limbs are different than what they would normally work with but isn't it just training her to work her limbs again and keeping her motivated while doing it?

And when a chunk of Adam's body got zapped and it got to the demon flesh, was the 'wound' essentially cauterized?

On your first question: it's very possible. The synch rate thing is more a function of magic (aka: whatever the hell I want it to be) and Slayer-biology than anything else, but it's certainly possible that a trained professional would help ( ... )

Huh, considering that this is Sunnydale, I suspect that the PTs that practice there are used to helping people recover from 'wild dog attacks' and being hurt by someone on PCP. As for Faith's specific issues, it could probably be described as a neurological disorder that makes it hard for her to control her limbs.

As for a therapist in general, well, you can make an argument that the Scoobies are like soldiers in a squad, and at least early in the 2nd Iraq War there was some success in combating stress by squad/platoon level group therapy. Though getting all the Scoobies together in the same room to talk about their feelings seems to cause the Big Bad to make their final attack...

Well my point was more that even if such a therapist were to exist, the Scoobies are not going to think of that as an option. Historically, they tend to solve problems internally, otherwise someone might have suggested that Buffy go see a counselor somewhere around S6.

Part of that is because this is television/fiction, and it's not so interesting to see Buffy going to her therapist once a week to deal with the PTSD she has from being dead. It's more interesting to see all the internal strife such a thing causes within the group, and that's what we tend to get.

So no therapists. As ever, the Scoobies will have to deal with their problems on their own.

sorry for making another comment, but i actually think that Buffy being forced to talk wiht Willow could really help her mind recover, especially if Xander is present (as Xander hearing her say the truth would in turn change her truth).

I certainly think that having Buffy, Willow, and Xander all in the same room could lead to some very strange things, that's for sure.

It was really sad when Willow flat out denied having any attraction to girls. Goddamn you heteronormativity. You're getting in the way of the emotional well being of people. And also kinky sex.

I look forward to Willow and Faith's conversation. Faith will have to confront her feelings of jealousy towards Buffy, and she'll have Willow to help her through it. And really, that's as good as she's going to get at this point. It's very clear that Buffy and Xander have a lot of love and caring and desire to help Faith and also Willow. They really want to be good friends, and I like how that shines through here. It's just that crazy, nigh-inexplicable stuff has happened to their minds, and their capacity to be good friends has been severely diminished.

This is really good stuff. Thank you for writing and sharing it.

I felt that since Willow had never met Vampire-Willow and had never even confronted the possibility that she might be gay, it was unlikely she'd have any other response besides "no no no I am not gay shutup shutup shutup!" to such a possibility. As you say: damn you, heteronormativity! You're keeping Willow from developing emotionally, and -- not that I care about this -- having hot sex with beautiful women ( ... )

I hadn't even considered that this Willow hasn't met her vampire double. It all made sense before, but now it makes even more sense. Way to be awesome at thinking through stuff.

Later I'll explain why Xander having a girlfriend in the fourth season who encourages him to engage in lots of sex and expand his sexual horizons is, in fact, a matter of destiny, and that Buffy taking over that role for Anya is not just a random coincidence.

(OR WILL I!?)

Part A was one of the scariest things I've ever read. Please, for the love of God, no Willow/Riley. Even that tiny hint of a suggestion is gonna haunt me.

Well BTVS is supposed to be a horror show. Therefore, in order to stay true to canon, I'm afraid the next chapter will be Willow and Riley trapped in bed together during "Where The Wild Things Are."
