When I last posted about Haven, I was angry and unimpressed with 3x1. Because I was. Since then, I have made my way up through 3x11. Spoilers, obviously. ( Read more... )
Uh, which is not meant to say that I don't empathize with all your other criticisms. I am very upset about the Claire thing and really tired of them killing off PoCs. I am actually hoping they pull off the fact that Jordan is in opposition to the other characters without making her evil.
I think we're supposed to see that they ~care~ about Audrey and they only want to ~help~ her, or that's the take on it I've been getting. I think we're supposed to see Dave in the Duke role for the Lucy Ripley incarnation (along with Garland in the Nate role, minus the romance), and what happens 30 years on.
Basically, I think they're being set up to redeem themselves by eventually coming clean. They're two white dudes on the show, both Audrey's allies of a sort, and that's a position that has traditionally been more protected than not.
Damn, do I wish the skinwalker had been Vince or Dave. Watching him get found out and then watching the other one cope without his brother would have been fascinating secondary character drama. BUT NO. We had to kill off Claire, since she's the one with the most knowledge of the psyches of the characters, and she'd have an easier time telling if one of the other characters weren't themselves. Also, because she's a girl and she's not special like Audrey is.
I sort of feel we're supposed to sympathize with them--especially after they got tortured by the bgk.
There's always been a sort of strong "men dictate Audrey's life, but it's totally for her own good!" thread in the series, and I feel Vince and Dave typify it a large extent now that Howard and Garland aren't around.
I was pissed about that because seriously? Are they going to kill off every freaking female character that is of interest on this show EXCEPT for Audrey?
Grrrr! Yeah, I haven't bought S1 or S2 on DVD and now, probably won't even get S3. I haven't watched the Beauty & the Beast remake yet. I should get caught up on that. I like watching the ridiculousness and the snark that is Hawaii Five-O.
If you need Covert Affairs, I have all of that and can send you a USB drive of the eps. (I have a friend aka "adopted kid sister" that is currently living in Cuba and bemoaning the lack of bandwidth and ridiculously low data cap that is causing her to miss most of American TV. All she wants for Christmas is a bunch of TV shows on a USB stick. :-p)

You think? I think we're supposed to think of them as creepy and possibly evil. That's sure how I see them.

Nah, I'm good. I'll either buy the dvds or catch it on the website. Or other nefarious means.
