whimsical manga journal

Hmm. I haven't been reading as much manga lately. Or I've gotten lazy about writing about it. I think it's both-I've had a lot of art project deadlines lately to keep my time occupied. Anyway, I went to the library with mum t'other day and looked at their graphic novel section. I got a Babysitters' Club comic (don't laugh, the other one I read ( Read more... )

Hi there!

This is actually the marketing manager at TOKYOPOP. I hope you don't mind that I respond to your post!

Pet Shop of Horrors is great, and is under no threat of being postponed.

Also (and this hasn't been announced yet) but V.B. Rose is coming back. So look for it soon!

You seem to be pretty up on what we're publishing. If we created a group of 100 or so "super fans" to get advance previews, answer surveys, etc., would be interested in participating?

Best,
Kasia Piekarz

Wow, thanks for your response! I'm glad to hear about Petshop of Horrors, and I'm thrilled that VBR will be back! It is one of my favourite series being published by anyone! I'll definitely stay on the lookout :D

The "super fans" group sounds interesting too. Thank you for the offer! I'd love to participate in something like that. Is there someone I should email for more information?

Color me green :) Good for you!
Do you follow other Tokyopop series: Gatcha gacha, Platinum garden, or Never give up? I'm worried about their fate.

Oh! I actually just read the first two volumes of Gatcha Gacha a couple days ago (haven't gotten a chance to write about 'em yet!) I bought them discounted a while back, though... but they were pretty fun (a lot better than I expected!), so I'm thinking I'll buy the rest sometime. I hope TP does eventually publish the last volume! I haven't read either of the other two series you mentioned, but I understand your worries! I want to believe that TP really did just put these titles on hiatus until they/the economy stabilize a bit, and will eventually come back to finish them... it's just too sad when series are incomplete!

I was doubtful about Gatcha gacha, but it came highly recommended - and it's so wacky that it works - not your typical shojo manga in any way :)

I hope you're right.
