I did things!!

Ahhh... today I finally feel like I'm starting to catch up on all sorts of things. (I'm surely still desperately behind on all sorts of other things, though ( Read more... )

summer, rain, twinkle stars, hakusensha, kombucha, dinner, productivity, coffee, noragami, yona of the dawn, outside, my birthday, grocery shopping, food

Yay for doing things! It's always such a nice feeling when things become apparently manageable again...though it can be fleeting...

And yay Noragami! And wow, you have to send books back to Yen Press, too? We always thought we were sending them for the letterer. Anyway, we have such a backlog of things we haven't sent back, eh heh...

Ah, the ability to do chores! Congratulations on having a presentable yard again! People who keep telling us it's good to be busy clearly have never been as busy as people in the manga industry.

I do wonder what Yen does with all its books! Maybe sells them to the local bookoff for spare change... These days I don't even get the marked-up books from the translators (maybe those are of use to the editors though? i never was too dependent on them since I could read some Japanese. hmm, seems like maybe my brother gets marked up books sometimes though?) I always have a backlog too: I wait to send them back until I'm told they really need some book because they don't have any extra copies in the office, and then I gather up a dozen others that have been hanging around...

It is better to be busy than not, with our jobs. It really is... but today's surprise "You'll probably have three omnibuses amounting to seven individual volumes due next month. Four of the seven need a lot of retouch!! (oh and don't forget two more books for Kodansha! good idea, picking up that new series.)" still makes me want to curl up and hide. Too bad that's exactly the opposite of helpful. Fleeting indeed ( ... )

That's pretty much what we do with our books, too. We now have a large stack.

In general, yes, it's better to be busy, but there gets to be a point where you need to not be busy for a little while. And oh my goodness, I am so sorry! (Also sorry about convincing you to take that new series. Hopefully it will turn out to be worth it once you finish all the Natsuki Takaya stuff.) Good luck!

Ooh, berry picking! That's so fairy tale like!

It's not your fault!! I take responsibility for my own possibly-poor (but possibly-not!) life choices :) I wasn't freaking out at all until a certain 3-vol omnibus with sound effects that's been looming forever got dropped in. That was going to lead to schedule explosions no matter what. (also, I looked back at my email about that new series and it looks like it could be turned in a little bit later than I thought, so maybe I at least won't be working on both that and Noragami at the same time.) (wow, I'm lettering a lot of your books this month :D)

Hee hee, my fairy tale life. I picked 30 pounds of cherries the other weekend (not from my yard). Blueberries are next!!

So much accomplishment! Go you! *^^*

Just as a data point, I haven't gotten a copy of Yona 1 yet either. I wonder why they haven't been sent out yet, if they're at cons? Odd.

Aww, thanks for letting me know! Glad they didn't just forget me, at least. Do you notice how far in advance (or if at all in advance) you get comps from them? Maybe the international shipping would slow it down too, though... Maybe I just need to politely pester an editor again :) (I asked about it like a month ago or so, when their twitter feed posted a photo of the book. that could've been just a printer's proof but surely by now they have copies for us...!!)

I'm not good at keeping track of release dates anymore, so I've lost all sense of when my copies turn up compared to when they officially come out. ^^; Pretty sure I've gotten copies of all but maybe one of my Viz books without needing to nudge anyone, though, so it should be fine (although I totally understand itching to get your hands on it!).

Have a great weekend.
