Oh my goodness, BetsuHana is turning into Taisho-central these days. Sakamoto Miku's Taisho series ended in the May issue, but Takao Shigeru started a new series set in the 1920s in the very next issue (come to think of it, this isn't her first series set in the 20s), and now Miyako Ritsu's got something that looks to be from that era as well ( ( Read more... )

I have read Heidi and enjoyed it. The translator was Helen B. Dole. Who translated the version you read?

Heh-heh, yeah, I really rambled on there... and on and on...

That's another problem-my book doesn't list a translator. From the examples I can find to compare online, it's not Elisabeth P. Stork's translation, or Dole's, or Eileen Hall's... If I type in a sentence of it on google, all kinds of results come up (none of them credited that I can find though). Ragh. Anyway. I did enjoy the book, even so.

Yes, Taisho manga and pirate manga... I'm set :D (though I still haven't ordered Paradise Pirates. Have you got it yet?)

It's interesting that the translator isn't listed in the book. It did list author, did it not?
I haven't gotten Paradise Pirates. Maybe next time when I go to kino.

eta: I missed this the first time around:

Miyako Ritsu wrote Toulan Merry Rose which I'm collecting. I like her art and story - from what I gleaned from the art! I look forward to this new series :D Thanks for pointing that out.

Yeah, it listed the author and some lady who wrote the foreword, and credited the illustrator. But the translator is a mystery...

Hee! I thought you'd like to hear about that :D (you know Tou Lang Merry Rose ended at v3, right? I'm such a dork-as soon as I saw she was writing a Taisho period story, I wanted to go pick up her earlier works too..)
