You know, we actually have yet to see any ads on your journal, even after commenting since the upgrade? Mystery...

Yay for happy endings! It once again goes to show that good things come to those who wait patiently (I added that last word myself).

I think we've seen things like those mountains of ice cream in old Disney cartoons or something... Maybe something on Nickelodeon.

And chocolate and peanut butter is one of the best food combinations ever! Very sad for people with peanut allergies. At least they can have chocolate and mint.

"Okane Tamemasu!" means "I'm going to save up money!" and the first arc (volume one) is the "My Goal is 10,000 dollars!" arc (interesting that it's dollars and not yen or something) and the second is the "I hate that jerk!" arc. It does indeed sound very interesting!

Oh, that's right... you have a paid account, don't you? I think if you have a paid account yourself, you're never subjected to ads anywhere on the site, even on a person's journal that does have ads. Hooray!

Yeah, having a peanut allergy would be sad. Thank goodness I only have to avoid wheat and milk! (actually, more like thank goodness eating things with wheat and milk won't send me to the hospital immediately... they're annoying allergies, but at least I can sneak the occasional bowl of ice cream and not die. I really should be more thankful for that :D)

Hahaha!! Knowing the subtitles, I want to read it even more! (I guess that means I'm attracted to manga about girls who hate... ha) It's just a guess, but I think a lot of early shoujo manga were, for whatever reason, set in Europe/America because it was "cool" or something. Maybe that would explain the dollars?

Huh. I seem to remember hearing that about paid accounts, now that you mention it. We never really thought about it before.

It's scary how bad allergies can be these days! But yeah, I guess it depends on what you're allergic to. Can you imagine if pollen sent people into anaphylactic shock? That would be a scary world.

The subtitles have us intrigued, too! It's almost enough to make me want to check out a Book Off, despite preferring to get all our books new. That definitely would explain the dollars. It probably was cool, because it was exotic. I know a lot of people like manga because of the exoticism of being from such a foreign culture, which is kind of weird to me, because people are pretty much the same everywhere.

Deathly pollen allergies would be terrifying! We'd have to live in bubble domes or something crazy like in futuristic movies/books/manga/etc!! Eeeeek!

If you visit a Book Off and find cool old manga, let me know how it is! I'm so curious, but I don't know who would ever bother to translate these old old titles. I can see the appeal of the exotic, but the "sameness" of people across nations (and across decades) is really neat too. Recognizing that people living 30-50 or more years ago laughed at the same kinds of jokes as me, had the same kinds of dreams... that's just so amazing, somehow. (of course, there are differences too, but those are much easier for me to see, so recognizing the similarities is more meaningful)

I never thought of cheesecake and ice cream combo, but it sounded yummy. I should try that combo one of these days :)

The covers are really cute. I like your new icons, too.

Hee, thanks. I have a virtual collection of old shoujo-manga covers, found on various websites and Japanese auction listings. It's the closest I'll probably ever get to reading the actual stories. I'm a shoujo-manga addict...

Ice cream and cheese cake is so good! I don't think I'd ever considered the combination before either, but with two such delicious items, how could you go wrong?

I'm in the same club ;)

Do you read manhwa? Narration of love at 17 is very good - and only 4 volumes.

I don't read very much manhwa. Something about the art or the stories usually throws me off... it's not quite what I'm used to in manga. But it seems like I've heard some good things about this series recently. If you recommend it too then I probably would like it! Ahhh, one more title for me to track down!! I'll see what I can do :D (at least at 4 volumes it's a nice reasonable length!)
