Think you're quick enough?

What is it with the annoying ship "mash" names all sounding like food items? "Calzona" is probably the worst (totes a pizza), but I also find myself wanting to kick something whenever I see "Rizzles", because that's just dumb. It's like a cracker. Also, "Jemily". I can't help thinking of jam. Just...WHY ( Read more... )

I don't know if you've heard this lovely gem where Jessica Capshaw and Sara Ramirez make fun of their ship name. :)

Oh that is PERFECT!

Now to get Sasha say that 'Rizzles' sounds like crackers...

Calzona, Rizzles and Jemily... all three make me shudder. I'm so against mashing ship names that these days, if I see a fic with a 'Rizzles' as a ship category instead of Rizzoli/Isles, I skip it.

And The Quick and the Dead, I remember seeing the movie while flying to the States in '94 or '95. Loved Sharon, but already then had a very different reaction to Russel Crowe. Yeah, never could warm up to him. Rubs me the wrong way.

eta: Speaking of things that fans do that annoy me... WTH is going on with ppl tweeting their favorite actors asking them to say hi. I'd find it way too embarrassing to ever stoop so low as to tweet Sasha or Paget "I really love your acting, can I get a hi from you, it'd totally make my day. Thanks." Seriously people? This kinda stuff makes me wanna hand my fangirl-patch back and beg for forgiveness.

...I tend to do the same. And I know it's completely irrational, because the use of the portmonteau doesn't always say anything about the general quality of the fic, but damn, I just can't.

Russel Crowe does nothing for me either. Mostly, I just find him annoying, because he seems to ooze this dick-headedness. Granted, I have no idea how he is in person, but he definitely comes across as a person who is really full of himself.

*facepalm* I bet all the celebrities are headdesk-ing right at this moment, because OMG SO DUMB. Well, I guess it's cool that your idol sort of "knows" of your existance that way, but you might just as well write them an awesome letter. *hinthintnudgenudge*

The whole Tweeting your idol thing...

I was gonna write about it on my LJ, you know, to complain and generally moan. But just as I was trying to decide what to say without sounding like a complete bitch, someone on my flist went "omg, I tweeted Sasha Alexander and asked her to say 'hi' and she did and omg this is the coolest thing evah"... I decided to keep quiet.

*hinthintnudgenudge* yourself... you ready for a writing session next Wed-Thu?

...oops? ;) Yeah,I sort of get the whole tweeting thing, and then again, I don't. Embarrassing, that's what it is most of the time.

you ready for a writing session next Wed-Thu?

HELL YEAH. I'll probably take the 12pm train, so I'll be in Helsinki around two. Should I get to your place, or are we hanging in downtown before the gig?

Also, "Jemily". I can't help thinking of jam.

I don't watch the show, but I believe Jim and Pam from The Office actually ARE "Jam." *facepalm* And don't forget "Caskett" (Castle/Beckett). Oy.

(Also, this reminds me, Bianca and Maggie from All My Children are "BAM," and someone on a forum once said it was like having a ship with the name "UNF." Now THAT I would get behind. Hee.)

Also, I'm not the only one who watches random gag reels of shows I don't watch, just for the funny? Good to know. :P

"Caskett"? Seriously? *cries* That is just stupid. But oh, BAM was an amazing portmanteau! I was never really *in* the fandom, but that one amused me greatly. There are good mashes as well, but nine times out of ten they should GDIAF.

A fellow gag reel enthusiast? AWESOME. Yes, I have a collection of gag reels that includes shows whose episodes I've actually never seen. Gag reels = ♥

I loved Bianca and Maggie! Still do. Cannot stand that they recently recast Bianca; she's a freakin' lesbian icon, for goodness sakes.

I'm not sure about all the couple names you mentioned in your original post (meaning who they refer to), but "hearing" you describe them sure gave me a giggle. And I like this discussion. Good topic!!

"Calzona" is Callie/Arizona from Grey's Anatomy, "Rizzles" is Rizzoli/Isles from Rizzoli & Isles, and Emily/JJ from Criminal Minds makes "Jemily". Ugh, they give me such a headache. :p

Oh, and I liked this movie too. I think I originally watched it for Leonardo DiCaprio (back in the day, because he used to be everywhere after "Titanic"), but of course I liked Sharon Stone's character in it as well. Didn't care much for Russell's character, though.

Leo hasn't really done anything for me ever, but he was such a cutie in this one. <3 Russell's characters, by default, usually annoy me, it was the same in this one.
