Joe was not affected by today's round of layoffs.  For this we are extremely grateful.  Sadly, we did not know this for sure until he walked out the door at 6:00 still employed.  I've spent the whole day in knots and my ulcer is singing arias (and not in that beautiful way, more in the Carlotta croaking out her song in Phantom kind of way).  Much

Managers could have done a better job of communicating. They seemed to be relying on "no news is good news" and only talking to the people laid off. The first time I read the mail from our GPM, I missed the one line where he said that we were largely unaffected except for some people on the localization team. That was literally the only specific information that I got that my job was safe.

I'm glad to hear Joe's OK. So far, so good, all 'softies I know still have jobs.
