netbooks and ebooks
the ubuntu netbook remix comes with a freeware ebook reader. took me a while to notice, because they've stuck the thing in "office applications", and (1) that's not how i would think of an ebook reader, and besides (2) who uses office apps on a netbook? even OpenOffice is way too heavyweight for this hardware ( Read more... ) -

GODDAMN PLASTIC CRAP!
plastic shit i knew could break, but didn't expect to, has been breaking on me. first the clip on one of my pens (that pen's made entirely of plastic, cap, clip and all), and now the attachment loop on my USB disk.
i didn't actually lose anything, i've still got both the pen and the USB drive, but now it'll be that much trickier to keep track of ( Read more... ) -
